BLACK & WHITE
This ongoing series focuses solely on light and illumination. The absence of color, which is rather unusual for the artist, allows the eye to concentrate on the nuances of light and shadow. The theme of perspective is not only present, but is actually intensified by the artist's emphasis on contrast and concentration.
In the series of charcoal drawings, the artist utilizes his signature imprint technique where highlights become even more visible through depressions in the paper, giving the images a noticeable depth. The linocuts impress with their simplicity. The experimentation with color, which is less viscous here, and the reversed printing of white on black further enhances the effect.
